Hastoe has celebrated the official opening of 16 new affordable homes in rural Devon and Dorset.
On Friday 6 September, residents of Cheriton Bishop and local councillors were joined by David Fursdon, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon, to celebrate 8 new affordable homes being built in the village.
On Saturday 7 September, residents of Powerstock in Dorset were similarly joined by local councillors, the Chair of the Affordable Housing Commission, Lord Richard Best, and Chair of the National Community Land Trust Network, Baroness Cathy Bakewell, to celebrate the building of 8 affordable homes in their village.
All 16 homes have been built on rural exception sites in close partnership with their local Community Land Trust and local councillors.
Homes built on rural exception sites are reserved solely for local people and always have to be kept affordable. Working with the local community and parish councils, Hastoe builds houses that are designed and built to suit the local environment and meet real local housing need.
