Hastoe has been ‘highly commended’ for its Southwold community hospital development as part of the National Housing Awards 2019.
Already shortlisted as a finalist in the category of Best Scheme in Planning (under 30 units), Hastoe then won the title of ‘highly commended’ for its project to turn the disused Southwold Hospital into nine new affordable homes and community facilities. The Hospital’s Edwardian façade will be restored to its original glory with the homes prioritised for local people.
Work started on the site this year and will be completed in 2021.
Fifteen percent of the space on the site will be reserved for community facilities including a new home for Southwold library, a nursery, a farm-to-fork café and a shared working space.
