While the reintroduction of this scheme has been mentioned by the government, no details have been made available. There is no current Right to Buy scheme in place for assured tenants of housing associations on a voluntary basis.
If the scheme were to be reintroduced, Hastoe’s position is clear. We would want to see a one to one replacement to ensure there is no loss of affordable housing within an area and there should be an exemption in areas where replacement is not possible. This would include rural areas.
As a social landlord and housing developer, Hastoe remains committed to building sustainable homes for sustainable communities. By ensuring affordable homes are available for rent and shared ownership in perpetuity, Hastoe supports individuals and families, and enables whole communities to stay together both now and in the future.
