Autism Hour: Hastoe’s commitment to supporting our customers

Hastoe is taking part in The National Autistic Society's 'Autism Hour'.
For autistic people, the world can seem full of too much information – and too little understanding. A staggering 64% of autistic people avoid daily tasks that could be seen as routine, such as going out to the shops, because they can be too overwhelming for them.

 At Hastoe we take our duty to promote equality and inclusion very seriously, both as a service provider and as an employer. We believe in equality of service for all our customers and staff by treating everyone fairly and according to their specific needs. We do this by developing a broad understanding of any problems that may be impacting individuals and offering them compassion and understanding.

So, to help support any of our tenants, customers or staff who are, or may be, autistic or on the autistic spectrum, we will be taking part in The National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour.

The Autism Hour asks businesses across the UK to take simple steps for just 60 minutes that can lead to a more autism-friendly world.

On Monday 2 October our customer contact centre, the Hastoe Hub, will be entering into the spirit of the Autism Hour by dimming their lights and trying to keep the noise down – two things proven to help autistic people.

We hope that, by doing our bit to help reduce the overload of information and noise that autistic people face every minute of every day, we will gain a better understanding of the challenges that our autistic customers face so that we can provide them with the most supportive service that we can.
