Hastoe to sponsor top category at sustainability awards for the housing sector

17/08/2017
Hastoe is delighted to be announced as sponsor of the ‘Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year’ award at the SHIFT Awards 2017.
The SHIFT Awards are the sustainability awards for the housing sector recognising outstanding sustainability projects and achievements that have made an impact in the sector.

Hastoe is one of England’s leading providers of affordable rural homes, managing over 7,500 homes in over 70 local authority areas. Its vision is centred on seeking innovative solutions to rural housing issues and providing sustainable homes in sustainable communities. Hastoe’s longstanding commitment to sustainability was recognised in 2016 by achieving “SHIFT Gold” for environmental performance following its yearly SHIFT assessment, an independent scheme measuring performance of housing providers across the country.

Managing Director of Sustainable Homes Bevan Jones said: “It’s fantastic to have Hastoe supporting the SHIFT Awards for the second year running. As one of the top performing landlords in the country, Hastoe leads by example outperforming the rest of the sector on measures such as energy efficiency of homes, meaning lower emissions, warmer homes and more affordable energy bills for residents.”

Hastoe Director of Business Development Don Barclay, who will also be on this year’s judging panel, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the SHIFT Award for ‘Sustainable Housing Provider of the Year’.

“It’s important to remember that when we talk about sustainability and environmental performance, it’s not just some abstract ‘nice-to-have’. For Hastoe, a sustainable home means lower bills and a higher quality of life for customers – so this award is a real opportunity to celebrate the difference that housing providers can make, both to the environment and to the welfare of our residents.”

“We are passionate about building affordable homes to high environmental standards, so I look forward to hearing more from other leaders in the sector about the innovative steps they are taking to improve their environmental performance and resident wellbeing.”

The SHIFT Awards will take place on the 30th November in London and will be hosted by Lucy Siegle, journalist and writer on environmental issues. Tickets can now be booked here.
