Hastoe holds successful preview event of new homes in Roussillon

28/01/2014
Hastoe held a successful preview event last week to showcase the site for the newly completed and future homes in Roussillon, Chichester.
RousillonRoussillon Park is a highly sustainable new neighbourhood providing a total of 252 new homes, of which 101 will be affordable. Half of the properties will be for affordable rent and half for shared ownership, to meet local housing need.

The Roussillon scheme received planning permission in March 2011 and is being built in several phases. So far Hastoe has taken handover of nine properties.  Hastoe’s second block of 13 flats will be handing over in February and a further 23 properties are expected to be due for completion this year.

In terms of sustainability, the scheme has achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 and the properties meet Lifetime Homes Standards. The homes also have high levels of insulation and air tightness to reduce the need for space heating. In addition, there are photovoltaic panels on the roof, Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery units, water saving taps and shower fittings, low energy lighting, recycling facilities and bicycle storage. Communal Bio Mass boilers provide heating and hot water to all 9 units in Phase 1.

With the additional benefit of a new community room offering community engagement, training and employment support, this scheme will be a thriving new environment for all residents to enjoy.

Kevin Hartnett, Business Development Director, at Hastoe, said: “We are pleased to be delivering these much-needed affordable homes for the Roussillon community, where local private rents and home ownership can be out of reach for some families. At Hastoe, we deliver homes that people can afford, we invest in people and communities and we are in it for the long-term.”

The homes are being built with support from the Homes and Communities Agency and Chichester District Council.
