Hastoe Group appoints new Executive Chair of Sustainable Homes

Hastoe Group and Sustainable Homes announce the appointment of Tony Burton CBE as Executive Chair of Sustainable Homes.

Tony BurtonTony Burton brings a wealth of experience to this new role, with a strong track record in environment, conservation, community, regeneration and planning issues and over 20 years’ experience of working with Boards.

Tony founded the national charity, Civic Voice, and is a trustee of Friends of the Earth.  He is a leading advocate of neighbourhood planning and advises Lafarge Tarmac on sustainability.  Tony is also a member of the UK Board of the Big Lottery Fund and Co-Chair of Defra’s Civil Society Advisory Board. He was previously Director of Strategy and External Affairs at the National Trust and Deputy Director at the Campaign to Protect Rural England. Tony was also a member of Richard Rogers’ influential Urban Task Force and a founder trustee of Heritage Alliance.  He was awarded a CBE in the Jubilee Honours 2012. 

Sustainable Homes helps the construction and housing sectors reduce fuel poverty, better manage their building assets and prepare for a more sustainable future through research, consultancy, training and other support.  Sustainable Homes runs the Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT) network which includes 68 housing associations [and other organisations] responsible for over two million residents.
