Residents' associations

By joining or setting up a resident’s association where you live, it's a great opportunity to meet your neighbours, learn new skills and gain confidence in dealing with community issues.
A group can be formed for many reasons:
• To encourage a ‘community spirit’
• To identify and try to solve problems that affect you all
• Campaign for or against something
• Gain a greater voice than you would have as an individual
• Arrange outings and social events.

The first step is to talk to us and start with just an informal group. After meeting as a group for a while, you might decide to set-up a more formal committee with a chairperson, secretary and treasurer. We’re here to support you throughout this process which is easier than it might appear. It is about helping you to decide the best way to make decisions about what happens in your community.

Have a look through the information sheets.  We are on hand to answer any questions you might have and help organise a first meeting.  Please get in touch with your Area Housing Manager if you would like to play a role in taking this idea forward.
