Tithe Meadow is a high-quality scheme of 8 new homes, including 6 for rent and 2 for shared ownership. Working in partnership with the local authority, the homes were allocated to people who have a strong connection to the parish. As a rural exception site development, priority for the affordable houses is for local people now and in the future.

Hastoe obtained grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency to provide these much needed affordable homes.

The scheme has achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. The homes were designed to help prevent residents from falling into fuel poverty by using the following features: Photovoltaic panels on the roofs which provide some free electricity to the residents, Passivent whole house ventilation system, improved insulation and air tightness, water saving taps and shower fittings, low energy lighting, recycling facilities and bicycle storage.

Following the completion of our previous development in 2007 in Field Close, Tingewick Parish Council invited Hastoe and the Rural Housing Enabler to explore the possibility of a further affordable housing project. The housing needs survey resulted in these 8 homes being provided on land made available by Jeffery & Anthony Tredwell.

A break-down of the property types is as follows:
Rent
2 one bedroom flats
3 two bedroom houses
1 three bedroom house

Shared Ownership
2 one bedroom flats

With support from the Homes and Communities Agency and Aylesbury Vale District Council the homes were completed in February 2012.

Rt Hon John Bercow MP commented:
“Tithe Meadow is a wonderful development for local people – the houses are a big asset to the community.”

Jane Gallifent, Regional Head of Development, for Hastoe South region comments:
“We are very pleased to have built these much needed new homes in partnership with the local authority. We are also grateful to the Homes and Communities Agency for the investment that helped make it possible.”
