Hastoe have teamed up with 14 other
housing associations and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority
to build 40,000 new homes over the next 20 years.
The new project, called Homes for Cambridgeshire
and Peterborough, will use £170m of Government grant to build a mix of homes
for open market sale and affordable rent. This represents a total investment of
around £4bn.
A prospectus has been launched for the
project, which you can read here. The prospectus includes a case study
of Hastoe’s development in Horseheath (South Cambs) of four homes for
affordable rent – two of which were built to Passivhaus standard.
Hastoe Chief Executive, Sue Chalkley,
said:
“It’s fantastic we’ve got so many housing associations working
together to provide the new homes that Cambridgeshire and Peterborough badly
needs. Housing Associations have a different model to private developers and
care about leaving a lasting legacy in the communities they build.”
“It’s vital these new homes are well-designed and built to high
energy efficiency standards. That way, we can increase public support for new
homes in their local area.”
